A widely published writer, Alwyn W Turner specializes in the history and popular culture of Britain in the 1960s and 70s. His detailed knowledge of the period has been called upon in a variety of enterprises, including film consultancy, articles for The Rough Guide To Rock and the BBC website, and the writing of trivia games. His website Trash Fiction is devoted to mass-market paperbacks from the last four decades, and has become a vital reference work, re-evaluating the work of dozens of neglected authors as well as exploring some of the more dubious areas of popular culture.
Published books include the definitive three-volume History of British Military Bands, Tribute, a guide to the British armed forces of World War II, and As Sutch, ghost-written for Screaming Lord Sutch. Forthcoming books include Cult Rock Posters 1972-82, Welcome to Big Biba and Portmeirion, to be published in Autumn 2006.
